During the Semester, Students worked with Baton Rouge General and their Pediatric Unit to propose ideas for potential expansion of the Wing. The Hospital specifically wanted to renovate to include a larger playroom for the patients as well as additional spaces for family and friends to be more comfortable in the environment. Students looked at ways to expand while keeping the same number of patient rooms and location of Nurses Station. Learning the Codes and Standards for the hospital was also a large part of the focus for the semester.

Concept and Inspiration
My inspiration for Baton Rouge General is from a prism: where white light filters through the prism directing the linear light throughout the space, creating an inclusive environment that includes design, form, and color in a space for the whole family. This inclusive design concepts, appeals to the whole family creating a distractive and interesting environment for patients and family to feel an uplifting escape. The three words that I focused my design on are distractive, inclusive and interesting.
