ID 3770 | Lighting
ID 3770 digs deeper into light and illumination, focusing on lighting, specifically types of lighting, how it is used throughout an interior space, and its properties and effects upon that space. Students learn quantitative and qualitative aspects of color and light. Throughout the semester, students will build an understanding of human perception of light and the role it plays in how space is understood. • Students will research lighting designers and lit environments to gain perspective. • Students will learn the different types of electric light and how they are used as well as methods for using and controlling daylight. • Students will practice various methods of visual representation of lighting design. • Students will discover how lighting can be controlled to evoke emotional response or alter the mood of an environment. • Students will learn how to design and specify appropriate lighting for specific needs based on industry standards and visual perception. • Students will understand how lighting affects the environment and learn to use it responsibly. |
